Charging Gateway
ICG is short for IMS Charge Gateway, and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network uses the architecture defined by 3GPP.
The architecture consists of the following nodes:
1. Charging Trigger Function (CTF)—A component of the Service Element that monitors the use of the service and generates billing events based on it.
2. Charging Data Function (CDF)—Generates Charging Data Records (CDRs) based on events received from the CTF and passes them to the CGF.
3. Charging Gateway Function (CGF) – responsible for persisting CDRs to the database and some pre-processing and error checking; it is also responsible for collecting CDRs from many CDFs and sending them to the billing system.
4. Billing System—Processing CDRs and creating some final output information, such as using this information to invoice users.
In this architecture, BEA WebLogic SIP Server, along with the role of CFT, is a service element.
